   Determined to make a new life for himself - and the poeple who served his family so faithfully - nineteen year old 'Reckless' Walker left his famly home to the hated Carpetbaggers who 'claimed' it, dug up the treasured family silver and offered a new life to anyone, regardless of color, who wanted to take what was rightfully theirs and leave with him to go West. But he is stricken down shortly after their arrival and the price of keeping the Community and "Redless`" dream alive falls on the shoulders of a quiet- spoken Black woman of middle to inderterminate age, Fanny Walker. And the dream will not fail as long as there is breath in her amble body!
