 a good tarp,  a Colt 45, and a Code of honor to protect you.

Sixty-one year old Paul L. McWhorter and nineteen-year-old Luke Cole served together in the War Between the States until it ended; and the life on his family's emptied plantation on the James River, Virginia could no longer contain Paul Lee's restless spirit. When his young friend abruptly decided to ride West in answer to Colonel Fosse's thinly veiled offer of a rough and dirty job bringing peace and civilization to the Western Territories, it seemed only natural for the older officer to ride out with him, hoping that new horizons and new adventures could help to ease the nightmare images from their recent past; haunting their every attempt to sleep in peace. Discovering  that the other men who traveled West bore the same scars and buried hatreds wasn't reason enough to return to the silence of the hallways and the ghosts of the family members killed on both sides of the Line, but could he hope to find something new that was worth it? Only time would tell.
